Early on in my relationship with my boyfriend, before we had really ever established a relationship (we were seeing each other, but we hadn't had a big talk about where that was headed). Anyway, he slept with another woman and told me about it After The Fact, which of course made me furious.
"Oh you'd really like her" he said. To which I replied "I'll loath her because of the fact that you were not upfront with me about your intentions, which has runied ANY chance that I could even be in the same room as her".
I know we hadn't established that we were dating, so if he had said beforehand "Oh I am meeting this new girl, something might happen" I would have been WAY more fine. Like you said, not finding out until after it happened soured me on the entire thing and it took quite a while for us to recover from it.
I've also been on the other side, telling someone something After The Fact. It's THE SUCK, that's for sure. I don't like hurting anyone, but I know how easily it can happen so I have sympathy for both sides.
